*NOTE: This is a TWO DAY workshop on Saturday and Sunday, May 31 and June 1, 10h-16h.*
Forget being good. Forget playing it safe. Clowning is about embracing your flaws, owning your ridiculousness, and finding the freedom to be utterly, gloriously stupid.
Society teaches us we must get things right, to hide our mistakes—but clowns do the opposite. They celebrate failure, find joy in being bad, and break free from everyday constraints. By embracing your inner idiot with optimism and sensitivity, you unlock boundless creativity, laughter, and play.
Dan is an multi award-winning clown comedian and has taught clowning and physical theatre all over the world and regularly teaches in the UK at the National Centre for Circus Arts, London Studio Centre and East 15 drama schools in the UK. He studied at Ecole Philippe Gaulier in Paris.
His performing credits include: 'The Vinyl Countdown' (Soho Theatre 2023) 'Clown Jam' (2022, Soho Theatre), 'The Flop: A Band of Idiots (WINNER Malcolm Hardy Award for Comic Originality 2022, Soho Theatre), 'Nina Conti: The Dating Show' (2022, Soho Theatre, Arts Theatre, Duke of York's Theatre, London), 'The Establishment: Le Bureau De Strange' (Soho Theatre, WINNER Adelaide Fringe Award for Comedy 2019), 'The Establishment: Eton mess' (2017, Assembly Festival) 'Derailed' (2017, National Theatre, Oval Theatre) 'Dr Browns Devised Ensemble' (2017 Soho Theatre), 'Brainchild' (WINNER Judges Award for Theatre Mimetic Festival 2014)
Dan regularly tours with Clowns Without Borders UK, a charity that aims to improve the quality of life for children and communities living in crisis all over the world, most recently he was facilitating workshops and performing in Jordan and Ukraine. Dan is co-founder of the London Clown Festival.
"The workshop was exhilarating and fun. Whether it is clowning or indeed any kind of performance, Dan will help you seek the play and the truth in what you do"
