Deaf Donkey Productions presents a staged reading performance of God of Carnage by Yasmina Reza. This multi-award winning drama pits two sets of parents against one another when an outburst of schoolyard violence leaves one of their sons injured. They meet cordially, at first, in an effort to resolve the situation. But cracks in the veneer of polite society appear almost immediately as the couples verbally spar while navigating their simmering rage.
God of Carnage lends itself wonderfully to the staged reading format, in which our four actors perform while reading from scripts on a bare stage. No props, no costumes, and no entrances or exits. Just pure, uncut acting, straight from the page to the stage in this engaging, intense war of words—or is it a battle for civilisation?
